Tall Ships 7th and 8th grade trip

Tall Ships 7th and 8th grade trip

Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, the district is not allowing schools to collect money or give deposits for trips.  Teachers are coning up with creative ways to replace these experiences locally.  If you would liek to help or know of organizations that can help develop experiences please reachout to teachers, admoinistration or the PTO.

The Manhattan Middle Tall Ship Expedition is an opportunity for 7th and 8th graders to sail aboard a 3 masted topsail schooner in the Channel Islands studying marine biology.  Students gain leadership skills and realize the importance of teamwork while living onboard this 156 foot boat.  Each participant becomes part of the crew, setting and striking sails, line handling, and learning navigation skills.

Students spend five days learning about the Pacific Ocean marine life off the coast of Southern California.  Activities include snorkeling, visiting marine labs on Catalina Island, kayaking, hiking on Santa Barbara Island, and a variety of science based lessons while under sail. Please talk to the science teachers for more information. If you would like to support scholarships for Tall Ships, please click on the donate button below. Manhattan Tall Ships Fundraiser
